The past several newsletters have carried information and evaluations on
the new CapTel 800i® telephone. Mary Beth Mothersell, LMSW, Sprint’s
New York State Relay Service Program manager, demonstrates this versatile
captioned telephone—you can read and save what the other person says!
The writer can testify that the 800i® significantly surpasses its predecessor
CapTel 200® and eases communication for us telephone-challenged folks.
Mary Beth explains some of Sprint’s other services such as WebCapTel® and
introduces the Relay Store, with its assortment of telephones.

Surviving and thriving in the workplace: Employment issues for people with
hearing loss ”with John Macko
The workplace can be difficult for hard of hearing people at best, but with
economic downturn and layoffs we face additional challenges in finding
jobs and performing successfully when hired.
John Macko, Director of the Center on Employment at NTID, facilitates a
panel of chapter members who share their experiences about being hard of
hearing at work He offers tips and strategies for surviving and thriving
as an employee. Panelists include Lisa Bailey, Don Bataille, and Andy Howard.
Mary Ellen Tait will be moderator.

All programs are held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, corner of East
Avenue and Westminster Road, across from George Eastman House. Both programs

SOCIAL TIME FOR HARD OF HEARING AND DEAF.
3rd Wednesday of each month:
Matinee show at Loew's Webster Theater to attend the movie showing in
"Rear Window Captioning" format.
The early afternoon show is between noon and 2:30 pm.
You need to check
the D&C paper that morning for the title of the movie being shown, and
the exact time.
Then, off to a local restaurant afterwards for an early supper and
social time. You'll still be home by dark! Hope to see you there!
